Ascom, LG Announce Licensing Agreement

Ascom Network Testing Inc. and LG Electronics (News - Alert) announced a licensing agreement between them that will cater to the needs of their common customers concerning the rollout of LTE (News - Alert) technology.
The agreement entails that Ascom will receive access to LG’s LTE modem interface as it is needed for the development and distribution of an interface between TEMS products and LG LTE terminals. Also the agreement includes updates and technical support for the technical interfaces.
In a release Rikard Lundqvist (News - Alert), general manager of Ascom Network Testing said, “This newly formed relationship between Ascom and LG will have material long term benefits for both organizations and for wireless operators alike.”
Official sources also revealed that the resulting TEMS products will be leveraged by wireless operators or network service providers to effectively analyze the performance of LTE networks. Wireless operators will also benefit from the investments they made on TEMS tools to accelerate LTE network rollouts.
LG will ensure the deployment of network test functionality to operators featuring its LTE terminals. It is expected that both LG and Ascom (News - Alert) will benefit from expanded market opportunities which will arise form accelerated LTE network acceptance.
“We are very pleased to partner with LG on this LTE agreement and we look forward to providing technology-leading TEMS products from Ascom Network Testing that support mobile operators in the deployment and optimization of LTE networks,” added Lundqvist.
