Recently, Quantance (News - Alert) started the production of the Q845 qBoost ET Power Supply. The company has stated that it will make the single-chip solution available in large volumes in the coming year.
Quantance’s patented qBoost Envelope Tracking technology considerably improves data upload speeds, network capacity and service coverage for smartphones, tablets, Wi-Fi hotspots, and other high-speed mobile data devices.
Reducing heat, increasing battery life and allowing power amplifiers (PA) to support complex 3G and 4G/LTE (News - Alert) signals, it also enables PAs to work at efficiencies reaching theoretical maximums, with less distortion.
Quantance got this chip from the initial tape out to production in less than a year to cater to the increasing demands of the growing market for ET in 4G/LTE mobile platforms and devices. The company sampled the Q845 to almost all the important baseband/transceiver chipset providers and handset OEMs in the market.
“Having an industry-leading chip in production and available for this exciting ET market means we can deliver on our existing commitments and are poised to win additional ET sockets at several major mobile device providers," said Vikas Vinayak, Quantance CEO. "Because the Q845 chip is easy to integrate, the roll out of our ET technology in smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices is simple and quick. This will further extend our leadership position.”
Recently, the company appointed George Palmer as vice president of operations. Palmer will look after Quantance's production of its Q845 ET power supply, as well as other products that make use of the company's patented qBoost ET technology, which enhances data speeds and battery life for smartphones, tablets, data cards and other high-speed mobile data devices.
Palmer was previously vice president of operations for Pixim Inc., a producer of video CMOS image sensors.
