Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) launched its latest online publication – Alcatel-Lucent TechZine – an interactive Web 2.0-style eZine that was born out of the company’s goal to frequently reach its audiences with informative technical content relevant to the global communications industry.
In an interview with Patty Wong, Global Managing Editor for the e-magazine, she explained how Alcatel-Lucent TechZine will differentiate from the Paris-based company’s other publications, Enriching Communications and the Bell Labs (News - Alert) Technical Journal.
Enriching Communications, Alcatel-Lucent’s business e-magazine, offers consultative information to help its customers take advantage of global communications market trends and strategies. The Bell Labs Technical Journal is a peer-reviewed technical journal authored by the Alcatel-Lucent technical community for global scientific and technical peers. “When we assessed our publication channels, we saw a large audience of technology-focused professionals who would be interested in what some of our best minds were thinking about. Alcatel-Lucent TechZine was created from the desire to share our best thinking on current technology and research topics to our audiences on a regular basis.”
According to Wong, Alcatel-Lucent TechZine will be updated regularly with articles, blogs and videos that deliver technical content around technology trends, concepts, innovations, new development areas, standards, and more – “ Alcatel-Lucent TechZine will provide current, informative coverage of pertinent, technical hot topics in the communications industry that are important to our customers,” she added.
Alcatel-Lucent TechZine has been designed in an interactive, Web 2.0 style that, “ties in everything you would expect from a 2.0 portal, such as likes, quick polls, comments, and sharing to facilitate engagement and discussions.”
There is also an “Ask an Expert” feature where the reader can submit a technology-based question and further engage with Alcatel-Lucent, Wong said. “If you have a specific communications technology question, click on “Ask an Expert” on any content page to start a private discussion.”
Alcatel-Lucent TechZine content will be created by a combination of Alcatel-Lucent technology experts and Bell Labs researchers to help customers stay informed about technology topics, innovations and advancements touching the Communications Industry. “There are topics and technical challenges within our industry that are important to discuss regardless of who a customer is purchasing from,” Wong said, “those are the issues that we seek to respond to with Alcatel-Lucent TechZine.”
