Interop 2010 presented an exciting opportunity for those in the technology and telecommunications space as it brought multiple players together in one location to provide informative presentation on new offerings, next-generation technologies and opportunities for the coming year.

TMCnet took advantage of this innovative event to speak with a number of key industry players at Interop this year, including Telesphere (News - Alert), a 10-year-old service provider focused on the cloud. Clark Peterson CEO with Telesphere, visited the TMCnet media booth for an interview captured on video.

Peterson brings an extensive background to the job. He started with Cellular One in building the first wireless network, before he went to Nextlink to learn landline. Peterson was then asked to go to ClearWire and launched all original markets. All the people he worked with in these past positions are now involved in TeleSphere.

When he asked how his experience has helped him, Peterson pointed to the power of having a hosted provider from the cloud. This approach looks at the devices and aims to provide a single portal of service for the customer.

As for changes with economic environment, Peterson said,. "There have certainly been a lot of changes and you know, and we have locations where we have offices and GMs in some of the hardest hit locations and we have had 80 percent growth year over year. Hosted really gives people the power of all these productivity tools." It allows that small business to look like a multimillion dollar enterprise without the capital outlay.

When asked about industry concerns with communications in the cloud, Peterson noted that most concerns are based more in the past, such as VoIP had issues in the past. Companies have to get over the barriers of security fears; get over the mentality of if I can touch it and I can't feel it, I can trust it. The power of communications will be harnessed at the cloud level.

Peterson put it very well: our generations are quickly adapting to the cloud and if we don't, the next generation will.
