Brilliant Telecommunications, Alcatel-Lucent Forge Strategic Partnership

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Brilliant Telecommunications, Inc., a supplier of next-generation network synchronization equipment and solutions, reportedly has entered into a strategic partnership with Alcatel-Lucent to supply an accurate, end-to-end network synchronization solution for Alcatel-Lucent’s (News - Alert) UMTS Femto BSR product.

According to Brilliant Telecommunications officials, the partnership includes the company’s femtocell synchronization technologies as well as a service agreement to support the increasing deployment of these technologies across Alcatel-Lucent’s business units.

The company officials said that the relationship will provide significant time-to-market benefits to Alcatel-Lucent’s customers as femtocell adoption rates continue to grow.

Femtocells (News - Alert) are reduced-footprint base stations that provide high-bandwidth mobile communication and improved signal coverage for the residential market.

“We are pleased that Alcatel-Lucent has chosen Brilliant’s (News - Alert) end-to-end network synchronization solution for their Femto BSR product,” said Charles Barry, president and CEO of Brilliant Telecommunications, in a statement.

Barry said that the femtocell market is highly cost-conscious and Brilliant is constantly striving to meet both the synchronization performance and the cost-targets set by the industry.

TMCnet earlier this month reported that Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by Aljeel Aljadeed for Technology, a subsidiary of Libyan Post Telecommunications & Information Technology Company in Libya, to deploy its IP/MPLS backbone across the eastern part of the country.

With the contract in place, Aljeel Aljadeed for Technology would now be able to deliver advanced broadband services with superior quality to its residential and corporate subscribers.

Alcatel-Lucent officials said that under the terms of this multi-million dollar European contract, the company will provide Aljeel Aljadeed for Technology with a comprehensive set of services including design, consulting, project management, installation, commissioning, integration, on-site technical assistance and training. Alcatel-Lucent will deploy an IP/MPLS infrastructure based on its Service Router portfolio and the Alcatel-Lucent “5620 Service Aware (News - Alert) Manager,” which provides high-bandwidth capacity for more personalized high-speed Internet, video and voice quality services.
