Nicolas Bouverot Appointed VP and Business Head of Alcatel-Lucent Middle East

Alcatel-Lucent, a provider of broadband networking, IP technologies, applications and services, recently announced the appointment of Nicolas Bouverot as the company’s new vice president as well as head of the company’s business in the Middle East region.
As a vice president and business head, Nicolas has the overall responsibility of managing day-to-day operations and taking the lead on strategic business directions for the company in the Middle East region. He will be reporting to the president of Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) in Middle East and Africa.
Nicolas Bouverot has been with Alcatel-Lucent since 1991. Prior to be appointed as vice president, he was Alcatel-Lucent’s global account director for Etisalat (News - Alert), a telecommunications services provider.
Succeeding Mazen Hamadallah, Nicolas has far-reaching telecoms industry experience, which will not only facilitate company’s customers but also its partners in the Middle East, company officials said.
Earlier, Nicolas also held various key managerial positions in Alcatel-Lucent’s different regions, such as Middle East, Europe, East and Southeast Asia. During this period, he managed company’s business development, commercial activities and operations with Etisalat.
In addition, Bouverot has also held several senior positions in management, sales and business development in Europe, East and Southeast Asia.
Bouverot holds an engineering diploma in Telecommunications and Networks from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble in France. He also holds Executive International Business Master from INSEAD and Lyon Business School in France.
“Nicolas is a seasoned executive with deep industry experience, strong customer relationship and a proven track record of helping Alcatel-Lucent expand its footprint in the Middle East,” Vincenzo Nesci, president of Alcatel-Lucent in the Middle East and Africa, said.
Recently, Alcatel-Lucent’s research arm, Bell Labs, along with Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert) Laboratories, the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz Institut, and antenna supplier Kathrein, conducted the industry’s first live field tests of Coordinated Multipoint Transmission.
This technology will not only increase data transmission rates, but will also facilitate in providing consistent service quality and throughput on Long Term Evolution wireless broadband networks as well as on 3G networks.
