Our always-on, always plugged in world, is forcing the hand of change. This era of digital transformation is fueled by innovation in the network in order to support what the future has in store. At the heart of performance demands is network infrastructure: deployment – maintenance, management, etc.
This week, Nokia (News - Alert) announced a new five-year managed services contract with Optus to manage the operation of its network infrastructure. Optus will work with Nokia to create a Network Operations Centre and leverage Nokia’s Global Delivery Model, putting best practice and local talent work to over deliver on network performance expectations.
Another key component of the contract is the addition of automation, as in working with Nokia Optus (News - Alert) will be able to bundle, standardize and automate processes. Nokia also intends on regularly auditing network operations to make sure Optus’s network is performing at an optimal level, and prepared to support whatever future-forward services Optus customers require.
Also, in selecting Nokia, Optus gains access to a slew of next generation communications tools. From network operations and software services, to extreme automation and artificial intelligence, the arsenal of robust network performance tools is comprehensive.
Friedrich Trawoeger, head of Managed Services at Nokia, noted, "We are pleased to work with Optus to help them use automation and other network management tools to further enhance the customer experience, operational capability and quality. This initiative is in keeping with Optus' vision to transform into a mobile-led, multimedia organization. We are leveraging the benefits of our unique Global Delivery Model, which brings together global expertise with local insights, to fully meet the needs of our customers."
Nokia is putting in the work for Optus, taking care of the heavy lifting over the next five years, and putting the power of next generation communications infrastructure to work.
