We know about smartphones and smart homes but what about smart benches? Nokia (News - Alert) has just installed one in front of its Hungarian headquarters, a Steora smart bench, made by Include. To sum it up: the bench is an all-in-one technological resting place.
“This solar-powered Steora Standard model provides USB and wireless charging, a free Wi-Fi hotspot, street light at night, cooling system for summer days, 15 sensors that are tracking everything around the bench (e.g. meteo data) and a Dashboard – web application that collects data from every bench in real time,” Include said.
Steora is the one smart bench that is perfect for continuous usage and allows for such benefits as Wi-Fi and cooling due to its green initiative. It weighs around 165 pounds so for all of its power, it is relatively lightweight. Internet access is available within 13 feet of the bench carrying 4G capabilities. No talk of what will happen when the world morphs fully to 5G by 2019.
One of the most attractive features of the Steora Urban smart bench is the 19 inch LED display; super bright and perfect for displaying ads as well as the daily and weekly weather forecast. It currently comes in six colors: white, grey, black, tan, forest green, and red. Over 450 benches are located in 23 countries, founded by Ivan Mrvoš in 2015 and manufactured in Croatia.
Aside from the Nokia headquarters in Hungary, the smart benches can be found in Australia, Germany, Slovakia, Belgium, Denmark, Czech Republic, USA, Portugal, Qatar, and Dubai.
