As the old saying goes, “Good things come to those who wait.” That couldn’t be more true for Nokia (News - Alert), which just announced the completion of its Comptel Corporation acquisition. The acquisition of the Finland based telecommunications software company was initially announced on February 9, 2017, and proceedings have just wrapped up.
Comptel believes in digital moments and helping companies serve, meet and respond to the needs of “Generation Cloud” customers. The telecommunications software company provides solutions that allow users to innovate rich communications services instantly, while simultaneously mastering the orchestration of service and order flows, capturing data-in-motion and refining their decision-making.
It turns out that the company is quite good at what it does. Since its inception, Comptel has enabled the delivery of digital and communications services to more than 2 billion people. Nearly 300 service providers across 90 countries have chosen Comptel to help them improve customers’ digital experiences. And now Nokia has chosen Comptel as well.
According to the announcement, this is just another move in Nokia’s overall strategy to have its hand in as many industries as possible. “The acquisition advances Nokia's strategy to build a standalone software business at scale by expanding and strengthening its software portfolio and go-to-market capabilities. Comptel bolsters Nokia's software portfolio by adding capabilities that help digital service providers bring new communications services to market faster, master the orchestration of services and order flows, capture data-in-motion and refine decision-making,” the announcement stated.
By coming together with Comptel, Nokia is ensuring the strength of its software business. The announcement points out: “When combined with Nokia's Operations Support Systems (OSS), Business Support Systems (BSS), analytics, security and cloud technology, Nokia will be able to offer the software intelligence and real time network information to deliver better digital experiences and operations in a cloud environment.”
It looks like this acquisition means good news for everyone. Comptel now has a major industry player on its team, Nokia is strengthening itself by the minute and customers are practically guaranteed an exceptional digital experience each and every time thanks to these two forces coming together.
