Once again the Next Generation Communications Community this week exhibited its broad reach in terms of both technology and what the deployment of new capabilities enables. Subjects included not only the usual news and features concerning all things wireless and infrastructure but also some interesting items on topics ranging from predictive analytics to new cloud offerings for the enterprise.
Since host Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) (ALU) was the subject of a few items on a variety of fronts it seems best to start with all that was newsworthy from ALU. For instance, on the wireless side of things, ALU is turning up a 4G LTE network for America Movil's Claro Uruguay that will be operational in the city of Montevideo by February 2014. In the enterprise arena, despite the recent announcement they will be leaving the business, ALU revealed it is rolling out its OpenTouch Office Cloud UC solution for SMBs. And of note was the revelation that ALU Japan is teaming with NTT (News - Alert) and Fujitsu to develop server architecture for next generation networks.
