Radisys Corporation Collaborates with Mavenir Systems to Deploy VoLTE in Europe and U.S.

Radisys Corporation, a wireless infrastructure solutions provider, reportedly partnered with Mavenir Systems (News - Alert), a provider of software-based networking solutions, to install Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in Europe and U.S.

The VoLTE deployments are based on Mavenir’s mOne Convergence (News - Alert) Platform integrated with Radisys’ Software Media Resource Function (MRF).

According to Mavenir, its mOne Convergence Platform enables mobile operators to deploy enhanced voice, video and messaging services across any generation of mobile devices and broadband access networks. While Radisys Media Servers that deliver the Multimedia Resource Function (MRF) component of the IMS architecture are fundamental elements in an IP communications network, processing real-time audio and video media streams ease the transition to 4G/LTE (News - Alert).

Ian Maclean, vice president of strategy and marketing at Mavenir Systems remarked, “The integration of our mOne Convergence Platform with Radisys’ MRF has provided the economic and functional differentiation for growing commercial success for our VoLTE and mobile service deployments, including the world’s first VoLTE deployment at MetroPCS.”

The year 2013 is predicted to be the year of VoLTE services rollout. The initial lead will be taken by countries like U.S., South Korea and Japan while many others around the globe will join the bandwagon over the next two years. Standards-based IMS service delivery platforms, such as Mavenir’s mOne Convergence Platform and Radisys’ MRF should be capable of delivering compelling video and voice services that maximize revenue options for operators.
