U.S. operator C Spire Wireless has selected Tekelec for LTE (News - Alert) new diameter network. The company will be deploying Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) to deliver personalized services on its LTE network.
“An efficient, reliable network is critical for our customers to use mobile data when and how they want, at an affordable price,” said David Smith (News - Alert), vice president of Network Engineering for C Spire Wireless, in a statement.
Smith said that Tekelec’s (News
- Alert) Diameter Signaling Router is an essential element for C Spire to offer creative voice and data services for consumer and enterprise customers.
Tekelec's Diameter Signaling Router centralizes routing, traffic management and load-balancing tasks create an architecture that enables IMS and LTE networks to grow incrementally to support increasing service and traffic demands.
The Diameter solution provides protocol mediation and interworking functions that allows users to manage 2G/3G-to-LTE and LTE-to-LTE roaming seamlessly. And, as the first point of contact at the network’s edge, the DSR is the ideal vantage point to defend networks against potential overloads or attacks. The Tekelec DSR can be deployed as an IETF Diameter Agent, 3GPP Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) or GSMA (News - Alert) Diameter Edge Agent (DEA).
Thanks to Tekelec’s DSR, C Spire will now be able to-Offer new and innovative LTE services; manage Diameter signaling traffic and secure the LTE network.
“C Spire rapidly rolled out LTE last year, and is architecting a New Diameter Network from the get go,” said Doug Suriano, CTO, Tekelec.
Suriano said that this allows C Spire to personalize broadband services for both consumers and enterprises.
Earlier in January, Jasper Wireless, the connected devices platform for machine-to-machine (M2M) and consumer electronics, announced that it is is deploying Tekelec’s Policy Server (PCRF) to provide the scalability and flexibility M2M services require.
