Tango Telecom (News - Alert) recently announced that its Diameter Signalling Controller – iAX DSC, has set never before seen performance figures of - sustained performance of more than 220,000 diameter messages per second per blade. This is based on dual CPU blades featuring Intel (News
- Alert) Xeon X5670’s clocking at 2.93 GHz and achieving CPU utilization of 70 percent. The system can easily deliver 1,500,000 messages per second from a single blade chassis. A number of operators are using Tango Telecom’s iAX DSC as a key component within the company’s next generation Policy architecture.
In a statement, Kieran Kelly, CTO, Tango Telecom, said that, “In order to adapt mobile networks to maximise the advantages of next generation signaling, operators increasingly need sophisticated Diameter routing, interworking, load balancing and high availability capabilities. iAX DSC is based on widely deployed low-latency extreme-throughput packet processing technology from our Data Policy Enforcement product, and represents a x 3 improvement on the previous industry leading performance.
Adding, “The strength of our DSC comes from many years of experience with the evolving capabilities of existing networks and a proven reputation for interoperability with major vendors and for solving interworking and compatibility problems. Coupled with the established industry leading performance of our iAX platform, we believe that our DSC product has a major role to play in the engineering of next generation mobile networks.”
The DSC can be configured to address certain network requirements which include – serving as a 3GPP compliant Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) for Policy capable of supporting session binding; load balancing; failover; and intelligent routing among others.
The system can also serve as a Diameter Edge Agent (DEA) based on GSMA (News - Alert) guidelines, to enabling seamless roaming for LTE subscribers without impacting network security.
Additionally, the DSC can offer 3GPP compliant Inter-Working Function (IWF) resulting in substantial reduction in cost and complexities associated with adding new network elements.
Tango Telecom’s Diameter Signalling Controller eliminates the complexities of integration and customizations of expanding a network. It also brings down the cost and time of new implementations while ensuring greater network reliability and scalability.
