QoE test specialist Epitiro has recently released details surrounding its Video Quality Test Strategy for both LTE and Fixed Line networks.
Epitiro will recreate similar environments of on demand streaming video services like YouTube (News - Alert), LoveFilm and Netflix, to study over-the-top video streaming performance. The quality of these services is analyzed and measured through key performance indicators (KPI) that contribute to the negative or positive experience of the service's consumer. Thorough end-to-end analysis will be conducted to study KPI's such as initial buffering, total re-buffering time, best and worst playback quality, fluctuations in video quality and playback length, to name a few.
Jon Curley, CTO, Epitiro commented in a recent report saying, "Demand for video streaming is forecasted to grow globally with LTE (News - Alert) and high-speed home services increasingly burdened with VoD traffic. We're excited to announce a video quality test capability roadmap that will help both mobile and fixed operations manage their vision for subscriber QoE."
Additionally, the new video analysis program can be configured to meet specific, personal needs and has the ability to run independently on a set schedule, which can be prompted for quick, on demand analysis. This last option gives the user real-time information regarding service reliability and video quality.
This new ability for consumers to independently track and analyze their video playback quality extends across the ipQ portfolio of information gathering systems by encompassing both fixed networks and LTE/3G Android (News - Alert) mobile devices.
With no signs of slowing down, the increase of video on demand service consumers has left service providers searching for ways to better manage their traffic. The current ipQ Performance Monitoring Solution solely measures different IP network diagnostics such as speed, packet loss, and latency. But, with the introduction of Epitiro's video quality analysis tools, available in Q2 2013 with more details arriving later in Q1 2013, providers will find themselves better equipped to meet the needs of their growing audiences.
