Realizing the opportunities in this field, Omantel, a provider of combined telecom services in the Sultanate of Oman, has announced the second phase of its 4G LTE network.
Coverage has been effectively extended to explore new areas in various parts of the Sultanate.
According to the company, this USB modem is sold at initial competitive price of only OMR 30/, including a sim-card with 1 GB of data. The LTE 4G starter-packs is sold at Omantel shops in Omantel Headquarters & Muscat City Centre outlets in Al Mawalih, Sultan Qaboos University Campus, and various other areas.
4G LTE enables high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals. It enhances the capacity and speed of the mobile broadband services.
LTE is the natural upgrade path for both carriers with GSM/UMTS (News 
- Alert) networks.
“Once again Omantel is the first operator in the country to introduce the FDD 1.8 GHz version of the 4G LTE network which comes in-line with Omantel strategy to offer our customers with the best mobile broadband experience. We are also delighted to announce today more areas have been added to the 4G LTE coverage list catering to the needs of people living in these cities," said Haitham Abdullah Al Kharusi, vice president of Omantel Consumer Business Unit.
Recently, the company introduced another innovative service for its customers, allowing them to pay their bills and get Hayyak top-up with the help of the company’s improved interactive voice response (IVR) system through bank cards.
This means that as the improved IVR system would give them a unique self-service option, customers of Omantel now do not have to visit Omantel outlets.
