To keep up with the demand of high-speed Internet access, video and social networking on mobile devices, Indonesia- based Indosat (News - Alert) has recently picked Alcatel-Lucent (News
- Alert) solutions.
According to the new partnership deal, Alcatel-Lucent will offer its comprehensive IP/MPLS based Carrier Ethernet solution, which includes its 7750 Service Router, 7705 Service Aggregation Router (SAR), and 5620 Service Aware (News
- Alert) Manager, as well as its 9500 Microwave Packet Radio platform.
Hans Morizt, director & CTO of Indosat, said: “Our customers are looking to access a range of video, gaming, multimedia and social networking services on their mobile devices, which requires a faster mobile backhaul network to support the resulting data traffic. At the same time, we need a network that can grow quickly and address fast-evolving customer requirements, without breaking the bank. The all-IP infrastructure from Alcatel-Lucent addresses all of these requirements, and gives us the flexibility we will need to meet our customers’ expectations far into the future.”
In addition, Alcatel-Lucent has teamed up with Datacomm to provide a wide set of services and expertise in the areas such as project management, consulting and design, integration services, installation, deployment and maintenance.
These new deployments will enhance Indosat’s capacity of data connections that support its mobile broadband network and will also back the introduction of high-speed 3G mobile broadband services, and other future technologies.
Additionally, Indosat is utilizing Alcatel-Lucent’s Internet Protocol/Multiprotocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) and microwave packet transport technology to support all of its mobile broadband offerings. The company will also modernize its network, while enhancing the performance and reliability at low operational costs.
