A four-year agreement has been announced by Tunisia’s largest provider of wireless communications services, Tunisiana (News - Alert), and Alcatel-Lucent. The aim of this agreement is to build a wire-line broadband access network that will bring high-speed Internet access and high-quality voice and video services to millions of Tunisian consumers and business customers.
Alcatel-Lucent (News
- Alert) is providing a complete network solution, including designing, building, managing and maintaining the network in order to support Tunisiana, part of the Qtel (News - Alert) Group, in building its nationwide wire-line access network. Beginning in 2013, Tunisiana plans to launch commercial services.
In order to provide Tunisian households with high connection speeds and reliable services, the package includes Alcatel-Lucent’s recognized gigabit passive optical networking (GPON) and VDSL2 broadband access products. Alcatel-Lucent provides elements of its Motive customer experience solution (CXS) on top of its fixed access products. These include the Motive Network Analyzer, which ensures high-quality network performance through its advanced troubleshooting capabilities, and the Motive Home Device Manager, which allows service personnel to remotely manage a wide range of broadband devices in customers’ homes.
“Our mobile customers expect a very high level of service quality and innovation. As we considered the challenges of building and managing a wireline network, we sought a solution that’s as efficient as possible and keeps complexities to a minimum,” said Hatem Mestiri CTO of Tunisiana.
He added that over many decades, Alcatel-Lucent’s expertise in providing network solutions as well in the management of those networks has been demonstrated. Making sure that it can meet the needs and expectations of both existing and new customers, it chose Alcatel-Lucent as the best choice for Tunisiana.
Faical Haffoudhi country manager of Alcatel-Lucent Tunisia, Morocco and Mauritania, concluded that in a country that is experiencing a rapid adoption of new communications technologies, its agreement with Tunisiana provides an exciting opportunity for Alcatel-Lucent to build a completely new wire-line access network. Thanks to the unique combination of Alcatel-Lucent’s fixed access assets and its proven expertise in customer experience, Tunisiana will be able to provide its customers with the highest service quality at all times.
