The cellular broadcast company, one2many, has completed IOT for its long-term evolution (LTE (News - Alert)) interface.
The addition of SBC to its library of network interfaces allows telecom operators to extend cell broadcast services such as emergency alerts to their next-generation LTE networks.
one2many provides Cell Broadcast technology to telecoms operators across the globe. The introduction of LTE cell broadcast emergency alert shows the company’s commitment to delivering public safety solutions to its subscribers.
To heed the growing voice and data demands of wireless customers, many mobile operators have started using LTE. The GSA (News - Alert) (Global mobile Suppliers Association) expects to have 150 commercial LTE networks operating in 64 countries by the end of 2012.
As LTE handsets become common in the market place, one2many’s customers have requested LTE support on their multi RAN technology CBC platforms.
Cell Broadcast, a one-to-many textual broadcast technology, is standardized and available on 2G, 3G and now LTE. Additionally, CB is the only standardized wireless technology for Emergency Alerts.
Cell Broadcast is being introduced worldwide as a next generation wireless Emergency Alert service.
Maarten Mes, managing director of one2many, commented in a statement, “There is no better use of mobile technology than for Emergency Alerts. Our customers have requested and even demanded LTE support on our Cell Broadcast systems which are already in use on CDMA, GSM, 3G and Wi-Fi networks.”
one2many will continue to play a crucial role in public safety, allowing governments to make vital public announcements to millions of citizens, within seconds, on a location-aware basis – without violating subscriber privacy or being affected by network congestion.
There few other Public Warning products available worldwide: EU-Alert, ETWS and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA – a part of CMAS) which was recently launched in the United States by the FCC (News - Alert) and FEMA.
