QLogic recently announced that its 8200 Series 10Gb Ethernet (10GbE) converged network adapters (CNAs) and its 3200 Series 10GbE intelligent network adapters have cleared the interoperability and compatibility test with Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) OmniSwitch products. QLogic is a specialist provider of data, server, and storage networking infrastructure solutions.
In a statement, Amit Vashi, vice president of marketing, Host Solutions Group, Qlogic, said that, "Today's applications require data center solutions that deliver new levels of performance, scalability, and flexibility. QLogic adapters excel in dense computing and high-performance virtualized environments and deliver advanced virtualization services that make them highly suitable for Alcatel-Lucent deployments."
Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch products have been developed as a part of the Alcatel-Lucent Application Fluent Network (AFN) which essentially ensures that individual application, user, device, and conversational context network are compatible with the network to ensure enhanced level of performance.
QLogic 8200 and 3200 Series adapters will work with Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch products to ensure storage and data networking support over 10Gb Ethernet. QLogic and Alcatel-Lucent are focused on the development of advanced technologies for the data center which in turn can help in building optimized networks. These technologies also serve to provide administrators with cost benefits of a converged network infrastructure in addition to enhancing asset use, performance, and flexibility.
QLogic 10GbE network adapters and Alcatel-Lucent switches have been developed as a joint solution which is both compatible and interoperable with a number of networking and storage environments. To ensure development of efficient and flexible networks, the joint solution features the QLogic next-generation server I/O virtualization technology offerings which include simultaneous, multiprotocol processing and the patented NIC (News - Alert) Partitioning (NPAR) method used in dividing a physical NIC into partitions or virtual ports from QLogic.
QLogic network adapters which are capable of delivering wire-speed performance are ideal for meeting the various complex needs of virtualized data centers, cloud service providers and the converged enterprise.
