Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALU) has been recognized for its technology innovation, in that market research firm Gartner (News
- Alert), Inc. placed Alcatel-Lucent in the Leader Quadrant of its “Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony.”
The report was issued in late September and authored by Jay Lassman, Geoff Johnson and Steve Blood of Gartner.
Alcatel-Lucent (News
- Alert) Enterprise was evaluated based on completeness of vision and its ability to execute, resulting in a position in the Leader quadrant. The SIP based Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX IP Telephony suite is a keystone of the OpenTouch Suite, which delivers collaborative Conversations for Enterprises. These businesses are ready to journey on a path taking voice communications to multimedia conversations using a wide range of solutions, from hybrid telephony to a full suite of unified communications and collaboration solutions, including visual collaboration across all devices.
“Leaders are high-viability vendors with broad portfolios, significant market shares, broad geographic coverage, a clear vision of how telephony needs will evolve and a proven track record of delivering telephony solutions,” wrote the report’s authors. “They are well-positioned with their current product portfolio and likely to continue delivering leading products. Leaders do not necessarily offer a best of-breed solution for every customer requirement. However, overall, their products are strong and often have some exceptional capabilities. Additionally, these vendors provide solutions that present relatively low risk."
Gartner also recommends that companies looking to purchase corporate telephony solutions should focus on scalable solutions that support Session Internet Protocol (SIP), desired levels of resiliency, desktop and mobile functionality, and the ability to integrate with enterprise IT applications while delivering the performance and voice quality demanded by users.
