Alcatel-Lucent’s (News
- Alert) Velocix content delivery network (CDN) solution was recently presented with a ConnectedWorld.TV Award.
The product was selected by senior industry experts. It was chosen in the “Innovative Workflow & Platform Solutions” category.
The solution is designed for pay-TV service providers, either IPTV (News
- Alert) or cable operators. It provides an interactive and social television offering that also meets personal needs.
Customers for Velocix CDN include TalkTalk (United Kingdom), Verizon (News
- Alert) (United States), Orcon (New Zealand), Oi (Brazil), and several cable operators – such as Time Warner Cable.
“We are very proud to accept this award and recognition for our Velocix (News - Alert) CDN solution,” Paul Larbey, vice president and general manager of Alcatel-Lucent’s Velocix unit, said in a statement. “By deploying a CDN, service providers can securely deliver all programming to authorized consumers on their connected device of choice. At the same time, they have the ability to provide the content delivery control and quality assurance that content owners see as essential to the successful distribution of their content.”
The Alcatel-Lucent’s Velocix CDN provides a managed service offer; it is scalable and secure; it is economical; and it has a suite of management and reporting tools.
Also, earlier this year, the Velocix solution won an IP&TV Industry Award in London. The Velocix CDN solution was recognized for innovation, excellence and achievement in the IPTV industry, TMCnet said.
