Tango Telecom (News - Alert), an Ireland-based provider of policy control, real-time charging and advanced messaging solutions for evolving networks, recently announced the results of its Policy Server performance study on the latest generation of Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) blade servers using Xeon 6 core CPUs.

The study revealed that Tango Telecom’s iAX Data Policy Server achieved a sustained performance of over 12,000 PDP contexts established per second per blade with unprecedented scalability to over 192,000 contexts per second from a single blade server chassis. According to the report, the solution scales to support over 11 million subscribers a minute.

At a time when the industry is taking slow but steady steps toward LTE (News - Alert) deployment, this performance proves that Tango Telecom’s iAX Data Policy Server is LTE ready, with its sophisticated features and massive scalability. Currently, Tango Telecom partners with some of the world’s largest operators including América Móvil, Indosat, Zain Group, Airtel Group, Telefónica O2 and Vodafone (News - Alert) Group to bring enhanced services to more than 450 million subscribers world-wide.

The Tango iAX platform enables interoperability between all network types, IP/WiMax, GSM and CDMA. This allows the operators to seamlessly upgrade to advanced infrastructure as they expand and enhance their networks. According to the Tango Telecom website, the iAX Solution Portfolio has been designed to enable the rapid launch of new and enhanced services to maximize revenue potential, increase return on capital and boost subscriber loyalty.

In February 2011, Tango Telecom said that its advanced messaging solution running on its iAX platform showed persistent performance in a performance benchmark study on the latest generation of Oracle’s (News - Alert) Sun Blade modular systems.
