NetAmerica Alliance, LLC recently announced that their members are among the first service providers to implement Ericsson's (News - Alert) cutting edge 4GLTE Mobile Broadband Router in America. NetAmerica Alliance has marketed the product as a multifunction UniPort Home Gateway (News - Alert) between the home and small business, simultaneously bringing together the might of NetAmerica 4G LTE network. At present it is ready for commercial services as well.  

A mobile broadband router, the UniPort offers a 4G LTE wireless broadband connection to the network along with wired Ethernet, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and RJ-11 telephone interfaces. All of these offerings are geared to the customer’s premise.  It has been developed by Ericsson and provided to Alliance Members as the result of a technology partnership that was announced in 2011 between Ericsson and NetAmerica.

In a release, Scott Donlea, EVP and Chief Operating Officer of NetAmerica ,said, "Alliance Members have been putting the UniPort through its paces since last fall when we announced the launch of our pilot network. We are confident to say it is ready for commercial service and both customers and Alliance Members have been pleased with its ease of use and powerful features."

In association with NetAmerica's IMS SuperCenter, a dynamic set of voice services will be on offer to conventional telephones (connected to its RJ-11 port) and up to four IP phones that are linked through Wi-Fi or an RJ-45 port.  The UniPort will also come with several external antennas allowing seamless services in hard-to-reach areas. With this one device home-based as well as small business consumers will have complete on-premise networking and at the same time be connected to WAN over a 4G LTE (News - Alert) wireless broadband connection.

NetAmerica  is working along with rural independent license holders who are implementing converged 4G wireless/wireline networks to make provision for business and network services with advanced multi-media IP services, round-the-clock network monitoring and 4G network elements among other core services that are needed to create the converged network of tomorrow.
