An industry leading supplier of audio and infotainment solutions, Harman recently announced its participation in the ng Connect Program, the multi-industry open innovation ecosystem founded by Alcatel-Lucent (News
- Alert) designed to be a collaborative open innovation engine, dedicated to exploring and creating the new generation connected user experience.
The automotive industry makes up a significant portion of Harman’s clientele. Within ng Connect, Harman will work toward advancing innovations around connecting the full range of digital devices and platforms. With a focus on driving safety, this interconnection is intended to make the automobile a natural extension of both the office and the home.
In a press release, Harman said that it is committed to enabling broad consumer tech integration of everything ranging from car to consumer devices to become fully connected. Within ng Connect, Harman will continue to play this role, as well as act as an industry steward around safety, to ensure that all automotive technology strides occur in a way that a driver's hands never leave the wheel, and eyes never leave the road.
“Harman is honored to join with other thought leaders in the ng Connect Program. ng Connect brings together the best and most innovative companies from all corners of the connectivity landscape, and Harman's contribution to the program's objectives is a natural extension of our existing work. Our vision of bringing an ecosystem for complete connectivity to consumers on a massive scale – whether they're in the car, at home or on the go – syncs perfectly with the ng Connect mission. We are thrilled to be on board,” said Sachin Lawande, chief technology officer of Harman, in a statement.
“We are pleased to welcome Harman to the program and we look forward to collaborating with them to enhance the new connected user experience,” VP of Emerging Technology and Innovation at Alcatel-Lucent, Jason Collins, noted in a statement.
HARMAN was recently awarded Ferrari's prestigious Innovation Award in Maranello, Italy.
