Participants Invited to the New LTE Diameter Interoperability Lab from Traffix
By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
Service providers and vendors have been invited by Traffix to carry out testing of their products in relation to the Diameter conformance standards. The new Diameter Interoperability (IOT) Lab from Traffix Systems (News - Alert), an expert in Diameter control plane, offers testing processes for vendors to check their interoperability with specified network requirements of service providers.
In a release, Ben Volkow, CEO of Traffix Systems said that, “The expertise that Traffix has garnered by developing Diameter protocol products since 2005 allows us to contribute time and resources to boost the LTE (News - Alert) ecosystem to support service providers in satisfying their customers' mobile data demands.”
Interoperability testing is basically the tests conducted in order to ascertain that end-to-end functionality between two systems in communication are running as per the base standards defined by those systems. Conforming of Diameter standards to the latest 3GPP levels and interoperability among other service providers are the two main functions that the IOT Lab testing offers.
Vendors can also check for performance measurements of their products, along with ensuring they conform to the specified standards. Over 50 Diameter interfaces are being supplied by Traffix to its vendors, all in a complete LTE core environment. Specific implementations requested by vendors and simulators of Policy and Charging Rules Functions (PCRF)’s are also being supported. Traffix charges packet gateways, applications, GGSN (gateway GPRS Support Node), MME and HSS.
Volkow also said that, “We believe that ours is the first interoperability testing facility to be established in the market for Diameter conformance standards and specifications. This step is essential in strengthening the LTE ecosystem around the globe. Therefore, we have made participation convenient by remote access and welcome vendors and service providers alike to take advantage of our expertise in Diameter signaling protocol.”
