An Ecosystem of Innovation

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

As communications technology continues to evolve to deliver better quality and innovation to clients, a number of vendors are discovering that working together in a customer-centric ecosystem allows them to improve their offerings, extend greater value to the customer and expand their market share.

The ng Connect Program is one such ecosystem, driven by Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert). By examining six new innovative service offerings, we gain a better understanding of how this ecosystem enhances the value of each. These six offerings include: Dynamic Digital Signage, eHealthcare, Digital Surgery, eLearning, Enhanced Mobile Security and Mobile Gaming over LTE (News - Alert).

Dynamic Digital Signage

To effectively advertise in today’s market, companies need access to innovative solutions that can change in real-time to keep up with demand. With Dynamic Digital Signage connected with an LTE/4G network infrastructure to allow dynamic updates at any time, the message can be maximized. Some digital signs can monitor the presence of viewers and gather selective demographic information and stats. LTE/4G can also enable video feeds, video chat and interactive touch-panel communications with product experts.

eHealthcare

With a Solution Concept in eHealthcare, remote health monitoring of diabetic blood glucose and hypertension measurements through a 3G/4G cellular network enables simple, “anytime, anywhere” patient care. This technology enables physicians to gather patient data, track and monitor patients remotely while eliminating costly and time consuming office visits.

Digital Surgery

The Smart Surgery Suite allows physicians in remote locations to interact in real time in an operating theater. These physicians can collaborate with specialized physicians located around the world in an environment that allows high-definition video feeds and remote annotations and communications with LTE/4G.

eLearning

By taking learning beyond the classroom, eLearning allows for the creation of the ubiquitous learning experience. eLearning allows a remote student to have a two-way audio, text or video exchange with a teacher while they are both looking at the same presentation file, video clips and other multimedia content via LTE/4G.

Enhanced Mobile Security

Mobility among professionals and their customers is rapidly increasing, driving the demand for secure mobile solutions. This particular solution enables such workers to access content and applications while they are on the go. Devices to access this information can include home computers, mobile devices or public locations in a secure environment.

Mobile Gaming Over LTE

Mobile gaming is a growing activity, gaining popularity throughout the connected world. As the number of players increases, combined with advanced gaming technologies, high-quality mobile interactive gaming is in high demand. LTE/4G offers the necessary high bandwidth and low latency to enable networked and social games to deliver a much higher quality gaming experience.
